Raymond has a dream about Hannah Apel, his lover who was more imaginary than real. She had distanced herself from him not because of a fear of commitment, but because of her fear of abandonment. Based on a Cy Twombly painting, "Paphos Ringed with Waves", the dream imagines a ship filled with lovers who were once corpses capsized near the shore. A fisherman sees the bodies washing onto the shores. Fingers a life apart, a course they could never chart.
