about

This album was written between June and September 2012. It was released as an e.p. because as a group we could not come to unanimity over which songs should be included. The group consisted of three members; today, the group only consists of me. I revised this album to include the narrative that I established. Despite my verbose tendencies, I want to take control of the narrative so that the fragments of the initial e.p. can be better understood.

I created a fictional post-World War II Eastern block noir--a story that demonstrates a closet Jehovah's Witness and a sickly intellectual who attempts to point out the vile absurdities of her faith. A reverse conversion occurs. The converter realizes that his own cynicism is as dangerous as the woman he's trying to convince of her faith's absurdities. In the process of this reverse conversion, he falls in lover with her. He becomes sympathetic to her need to practice a faith he cannot agree with. Yet, they cannot resolve their differences in the shrouded darkness of godless communism.

In the end, both lovers are left with a void of faith in love. Realizing his desperation to salvage their relationship, he pretends to believe in her faith. In secret, he forges a bond with the secret community; he distorts the lie to a point where he can no longer recognize it himself. However, she realizes his phony posturing and outs him, ultimately having him shunned by the very organization he set out to revile.

Currently, I am physically unwell. My fear was that this revision would never have been made. I cannot tell you how much your support has meant to me throughout the creation of over eighty albums and e.p.'s. I am grateful for every download--free or paid--and your verbal support in these past three years. Hopefully, my health will improve. Until then, I am relieved that I was able to finish this project before my health suffers even more.
