Raymond's radioactive rhetoric is too much for Olivia to bear. She confronts him while organizing the last parts of his novel "Heaven" for him. She begins to edit the novel with her own religious slant. He discovers this and generates condescending criticisms of people who believe in god--especially Jehovah's Witnesses. In a rage, Olivia walks Raymond's manuscript to the low-lit fire and threatens to throw it to the flames. Raymond apologizes with his fingers crossed.
